Drawing on human relationships as a natural source of influence, Eyes of Others fuses space and melody with seductive and infectious consequence. Making ‘post-pub, couldn’t get in the club music’, Eyes of Others has recently gained the support of electronic music pioneers such as Das Ding and Andrew Weatherall after previous releases on Edinburgh label Paradise Palms.
The new EP Lust Unrequited confuses language, love and lust to beguiling effect. Born of Scottish Highland myth, its romantic and rapacious sonic journey starts there. Looking to Europe, Brussels-based Mugwump is first to go off-road with his take, employing both respect and disregard for tradition in equal measures. Next, crossing the Atlantic to California, we find Sordid Sound System manoeuvring the raw materials to fully dubbed- out results. Finally Tel-Aviv’s Maya Danon takes a majestic and tempered bare-bones approach, giving just enough and never too much.
